Our
Objectives
This
site was born thanks to the idea
that even small and medium enterprises and their economics realities
need to be present in the Global Market. He’s also aware of the
difficulty they encounter when thinking to be “visited” if they
don’t provide strong and powerful advertising strategies. This site
has been built for this purpose and finally it enables searching
information in an easier and wider way. Surfers will be able to search
different activities in a multiple choice, combining different aspects.
For instance an economic operator willing to come to Arezzo in order to
buy gold jewelry will have to look for accommodations, restaurants or
maybe a present for his wife. Once in
www.arezzoedintorni.com
he will be fascinated by the wide choice of services and activities
proposed and divided by categories. |
Origin of the name In a
world that is becoming always more global we believe in maintaining our
identity as individuals part of a community enriched by a tradition and an
old history that has to face global economy but that has to keep its
economic and also cultural origins related to territory. Therefore
in our opinion Arezzo is “the center of the world” because of gold
district that the town represents and that forms the main pillar of
economic local interests. Besides Arezzo boast about its territory and
surroundings both historical and geographically considerable well known.
The site, in fact, is named after these aspects: www.arezzoedintorni.com,
it means Arezzo and its surroundings. |
History
of Arezzo
Once
Arezzo’s territory (Arretium back in the pre Etruscans period) was
populated starting from inferior Paleolithic times (Over 200 thousands
years ago) as many prehistorically finds conserved in the “Gaio Cilnio
Mecenate” museum give evidence of. Recently
(VI-IV Century B.C.)
the ancient town was populated by Umbri and it became in Etruscans
time one out 12 towns “lucumonie” enriched by a flourishing
agricultural activity, as well as manufacturing (bronze and ceramic) and
commercial one. At that time Arezzo was used to import ceramics from
Greece besides having trade relationships spread all over the world. In
III Century B.C. Arezzo coined its first currency. The
magnificence of the town continues until Roman period (II-I Century B.C.)
becoming an important commercial and military network. In this time in
fact Arezzo is a relevant industrial and agricultural center enriched by
spare time amenities as thermal spas, theaters, private villas monuments
and monasteries. Roman
Arezzo is rich and well organized town, able to produce ceramic thanks to
over one hundred factories that export aretini vases all over the world.
It becomes “Municipium” since ’89 B.C. and it becomes third town in
Italy after Rome and Capua. It gets
through easily the roman decline and it expands its territory. In the
medieval time Arezzo is powerful and rich. It is divided in 4 districts
(Porta del foro, Porta Crucifera, Porta S. Andrea, Porta del borgo), it’s
populated by 20 thousands people, many students come from all over the
world to enjoy its cultural aspects and University (Studium generale)
where Stylus Altus writing style is taught. During XIII and XIV Century
the town at the maximum of its economic, cultural and artistic exploit
gains the appearance in the architectural side as it’s kept today.
Anyhow political debates weaken Arezzo that has a sad end being bought for
40 thousand fiorini by Florence Republic. Contemporary
Arezzo is kept inside the walls built by Florence supremacy, it takes part
to the Political national life, and it’s involved in the Worker
opposition at the end of Second World War. It promotes the rebuilding
after the world war during which it takes part in a relevant way, and
during 50’s and 60’s it encounters a flourishing period during which
factories grow up and live an economic boom as, for instance, Lebole was
born and gold firms become popular as Gori& Zucchi. This
time also represents an important reevaluation of public architecture
building structure that gives birth to schools, churches, The population
raise and reach 100 000 inhabitants. The
economic crisis that since 80’s has stricken over the town economy made
many factories closed down and resized their capabilities. Anyhow business
skills of these people are not lost and small and medium enterprises today
have the key for their success in the local economy. Arezzo flourishes in
the production of gold jewelry, shoes, clothes, and leather accessories.
Artisan workers go together with furniture factories as well as ceramic
laboratories. Arezzo’
s trade is still alive and even if the small traditional shop has to face
industrial development the fiera antiquaria represents that breath of
fresh air that make the town still alive, well known all over the world it
takes place every first weekend of every month. |
